What a year the team has had in it’s first year on the “Block”! All first year seniors starting off the 2015 season as A3 riders and finishing out the season with Elite A1 rider licence’s and Elite National Irish Criterium Champions is a perfect and fitting end to the work and dedicated contribution by all here at iTap.
The team started out with a few objectives for the year and Ras Mayo was one of the first. We won the General Classification. Job done and a fantastic team showing by the riders in holding onto the overall despite sustained attacks and threats to our lead during the final stage of the race.
Our season progressed as it started with another 14 wins and countless placings from National Elite Road Series Events to International Stage Race results. You can see a full list of our riders results here.
The seasons racing finished out with a spell in Belgium enjoying and learning the 1.12 & 1.12B Kermesse curve. All the rides handled the racing with ease and we had a rider coming to the line at every race sprinting for the win or top 5 which is a super achievement for these first seniors. The teams results abroad can be seen on the Cycling Data Base here.
With us achieving all of our goals for 2015 it sets up the team for the next goal and an increased and more challenging international racing schedule for 2016 which can bee seen here. The system and culture we have at iTap is of progress and development in a gradual and progressive structure to ensure stability and constant progress without decay.
The riders and team delievered and so did our sponsors and partners.
We first had The Athlete Clinic come on board and provide all of the coaching to the riders. The Athlete Clinic also provide the athlete services which include physio, strength & conditioning, ramp testing, injury managment amount a few. We can honestly say that they are the best coaching practise in the country and our rider can testify to that with the increase we have seen since the program. One of our riders who was an average junior has increased his 4mmol lactate mark by a mind blowing 60w in 15 months. We also like to to thank them for keep all of the riders injury free despite crashes and high improvement curves. Our next engagement was with O’Neill Cycles who are based in Tuam. Dara & Tony O’Neill have been a super partner to the team in looking after the Moda Finale machines we ride. They were instrumental in arranging the bikes for the riders. At no time during the year did the team want for any equipment or suffer from poor equipment. We cannot recommend the O’Neill Father & Son team enough for your biking needs.
Our next sponsor & partner Kalas Ireland came onboard to cloth the riders and what a wonderfull job the did. Described as “The Kit of the Century” by Sticky Bottle, well we can only agree. We wear the kit and not only from a design point but from a cut, stitching and texture feel the clothing is second to none. Their brand covers everything from full rainmem kit to light and airy summer kits with no minimum orders and quick lead times. Everyone knows who we are from our kit! With the improvements in racing and training the team went in search of a power meter supplier for the measurement & analysis of the rider training. Power2Max became our sponsor & partner. Supplying into the team all the power meters for the riders added another dimension to the squad and enabled The Athlete Clinic greater control overt he riders development ensuring no wasted miles or burnout. At power2max, they develop, manufacture and distribute high quality professional power meters for all cyclists at amateur prices. One of our main goals was to establish correct feed protocols for the riders while racing and we found our supplier for our race food in The Bike Clinic based in Castlebar. You can view all our sponsors & partners here or read our sponsorship menu here. We are still looking to secure a lead sponsor for our program and can assure you of the strictest confidence should you or your business wish to engage with us.
Our social media platform has also exploded over the last year with our biggest month yielding over 300,000 impressions alone on Facebook and a total of 2.5 million impressions across our full media platform in 2015 alone. We are aiming to double that in 2016. Our social media platforms can be found on the right column of this page. Please click and follow to find out more and stay in touch for the new year.
On and ending note for the 2015 season a big thanks for all our support, messages, calls, texts etc over the last year. It has been overwhelming for all of us here at iTap and we plan to use that in building and succeeding through 2016. Stay in touch and see ye all on the road.
