Our second Team training camp took place from the 27th – 30th December just outside Roscommon Town in Mote Park. Due to some frosty conditions and hazardous roads the riders spent a number of hours each day on the turbos doing some specific workouts. The afternoon was when they would hit the roads of Roscommon to blow out the Christmas cobwebs. The camp enabled the riders to get to know each other and learn each others strengths and weaknesses and also develop their knowledge base from lectures and discussion.
The camp consisted of an early morning turbo session followed by breakfast which in turn was followed by some functional core work. The riders would then have a light lunch and head out of the roads for some specific team work and interval training. The evenings were spent on the massage table, foam rolling and stretching.
The camp also gave the riders a chance to meet some of our new sponsors. Dara O’Neill from O’Neill Cycles who are our Equipment Consumables Sponsor dropped in to service all the bikes in order to get the riders through the last of the winter months. Most bikes needed new chains and new blocks which were gladly replaced. Dara gave a talk to the riders offering advice and tips for extending the life of their equipment.
Our new clothing sponsor was also on hand to get all the riders measured up for the new kit which is being designed at present and will be ready for the start of the racing season. I must say that it was one of the most professional and thorough kit fitting evenings that I have seen and the quality of our new kit has the riders even more motivated for the season ahead. More info in the next couple of weeks when we will be launching the brand.
We would also like to thank Mark Feeley of Mark Feeley Stone Design who generously sponsored our winter training camp in Mote Park. You can find more information on Mark either by clicking the link or the image which will bring you directly to his Facebook page.
Our Coaching & Athlete Services were catered for by Sports & Exercise Engineering who were on site for the duration of the camp attending to the riders, analysing files, prescribing sessions, instructing on strength & conditioning and core etc.
Team iTap would like to thank all the sponsors involved in the camp. We would also like to thank The Feeley Family & The Bailey Family for providing the cooking and kit servicing for the riders and staff over the four days. Probably the two most important jobs of the lot!
All the riders, team and staff would like to wish you all a Very Happy New Year and we’ll see you on the road at some stage in 2015. Safe riding over the Holidays.
